Speaker Bios:

Author and Historian Stephen Paul DeVillo is an active and prominent advocate and tour guide of the Bronx River. He is well known for his "Bronx River Rambles" and dedication to NYC and Hudson Valley folklore. DeVillo will bring his insights from many years of research on the Bronx River to discuss the history and need to conserve this beloved natural resource. DeVillo has written three books, including The Battle of White Plains: Washington and Howe in Westchester and The Bronx River in History and Folklore.

Captain Cameron Colby currently serves as an instructor in the American History Division at the US Military Academy at West Point. He leads a research project seeking to "Map the Revolutionary War in the Hudson Valley." This year's iteration of the project specifically looks at the 1776 New York Campaign, which includes the battle of White Plains. CPT Colby's presentation captures some of the current research and future plans to explore how the British invasion and American defense unfolded from August to November 1776.
